Victoria - the Author

Not a lot of people know this - but Victoria actually has TWO books that she has written, and she's working on her third!

Here is a synopsis of the books that have already been published;

It's Me or the Dog - How to Have the Perfect Pet by Victoria Stilwell

It's Me or the Dog - How to Have the Perfect Pet:

Victoria’s first book, It’s Me or the Dog: How to Have the Perfect Pet is the ultimate guide to understanding your dog and building a balanced relationship based on trust and respect. By clearly and concisely laying out her general philosophies on dog training and then delving into more detail on some of the most common dog behavior issues, Victoria effectively provides a road map readers can follow to emulate her world-renowned, wildly successful dog training techniques and tame even the most problematic dog. Simple, intuitive instructions and stunning color photography help dog owners not merely train their pets, but understand them -- so when a new issue arises, they’ll be able to adjust their approach and nip it in the bud before it gets out of hand. Throughout, she reminds owners that training isn’t about imposing their will on a dog; it’s about giving him the tools he needs to live in the human world. Central to her philosophy is that in order to fully understand and effectively communicate with your dog, you must first learn to talk and think dog and see the world from the dog’s point of view – only then can the bond between dog and owner truly be based on constructive discipline, mutual respect and love.

It's Me or the Dog - Fat Dog Slim by Victoria Stilwell

It's Me or the Dog - Fat Dog Slim:

“You are what you eat” is as true for dogs as it is for humans, so it's no  wonder that so many dogs have behavioral problems when you look at what really  goes into a typical can of dog food. Or why dog obesity is increasing  exponentially when you look at the sedentary lifestyles so many owners lead.  In her second book, Victoria tackles the hottest canine subject of the day and shows how you can have a happy, fit, healthy dog by giving them the right food  and the right exercise. Along the way she deals with all sorts of related  behavioral problems - from food stealing to managing exercise - in her typically feisty and highly effective way.

You can find the first book - How to Have the Perfect Pet - on Amazon.com, or at the store on Victoria's website (positively.com).

Fat Dog Slim, however, is a little more difficult.  Check out eBay, and there might be a seller or two on Amazon as well.

I highly recommend both of these books to all dog owners.

This is the first post for the Victoria Stilwell LJ Fans community.

If you don't know about Victoria - or what we expect in this community - please read the ABOUT PAGE of this community.  :)

Once we get more members, I am sure there will be more activity here - but until then, I will try to update this community with something as often as possible.  News, photos, videos, etc...  of Victoria and/or "It's Me or the Dog".

A quick FYI - the 8th season of "It's Me or the Dog" is rumored to begin in June.  The date has been pushed back a few times already, so let's hope this is going to be the actual month.  Until then, if you get into some kind of withdrawl - check out the store at animalplanet.com - there you can purchase US Seasons 1 AND 2 on DVD.  Also, US Season 3 is available on iTunes.

What has Victoria been up to?  Well she just flew back from the UK - where she was filming live on ITV's Daybreak.  Helping locals with their messed up pups on live television for four mornings last week (Mon - Thu).  Here's a clip from one of those days;

What's coming up?  How about 20/20?  Yep, they're looking for New England-based dogs with separation anxiety for an upcoming TV segment.  You can send in your submissions of your anxious dogs HERE.

Okay, that's the latest - you can keep up with Victoria on her Facebook & Twitter - and don't forget to check out her website for more information at Positively.Com.
